Dont Peak at High School review ´ 3 Fiona Scott-Norman ↠ 3 read review Dont Peak at High School Of background I never went to anything cool the first time I went to a Big Day Out I was 23 and playing at it – Megan Washington Contributors include •Brendan Cowell •Megan Washington •Adam Goodes •Penny Wong •Charlie Pickering •Tim Ferguson •Bindi Cole •Judith Lucy •Paul Capsis •Eddie Perfect •Benjamin Law •Marieke Hardy •Kate Miller Heidke •Wendy Harmer •Brendan Cowell •Adam Bolan. Much of my school years are lost to me in the mists of time so they could not have been life defining as they were for so many of the celebrities in this worthy tome I cannot remember being bullied at least not in school nor do I remember it as a particularly happy or unhappy time I recall some very good teachers a couple of disgraceful ones and the developing of a love for history I recall some great mates one still in my life some four decades later and being woeful at many subjects Obviously I then became a teacherThe notables in Don t Peak at High School are a mixed bunch but all rose above their dreadful school days to prominence despite the best efforts of foul bullies to inflict pain mental degradation and generally to make their lives miserable Tim Ferguson in a newspaper article to mark the book s release tells of the ultimate payback sadly not reencountered in his candid chapter and Brendon Cowell rightly tracks the sad life path post school for most bullies But far too many victims do find themselves unable to rise above it all then and into adulthood with some tragically even giving the ultimate justification of the necessity to tackle this odious problemIn my long experience being responsible for behaviour management in schools most bullies are simply thick thugs male and female the truly dangerous few are the intelligent ones A book like this would never sway the majority from their desire to belittle others as they are mostly miserable within themselves and lack the nous to work out why They will do anything in order to bignote themselves in front of their pathetic acolytes They would never understand even the accessible language used in the book despite all the cussing To buyborrow it would not enter their heads It will though hopefully provide some solace for their victims I was moved by some of the ordeals of those featured particularly Wendy Harmer s Fiona Scott Norman is to be commended for putting this together and in the hands of a dedicated teacher much great work could be done in the classroom with it Now that social networking adds to the misery of many of our young people this book is a timely and sobering read

Dont Peak at High School review ´ 3 Fiona Scott-Norman ↠ 3 read review Dont Peak at High School Ies offer strategies to cope and conuer as well as inspiring and inventive ways to deal with what feels like the undealable says editor and energy behind the book Fiona Scott Norman These are stories not only of survival but of people who've flourished despite inauspicious beginnings Coincidence Not likely The irony is that the majority of people who are admired and respected in the world probably came from this kind. I couldn t tell you how I came across this book but obviously I did somehow and I m glad I did Bullying will never go away but it could be reduced if adults got involved and weren t so one sided I couldn t believe so many people I admire were contributors Just goes to show that no matter who are you can be bullied Each story made me laugh and cry It s definitely a lot easier to look back and see the bullies lacking something in some way but actually living through it is the hardest part Also telling kids that school is the best days of your life is complete crap It is such a misnomer I can t even begin If society made of an effort to stamp out bullying then we d be able to co exist in a simpler and easier way If you think you know a kid or teenager going through a rough time this a book that will help start them on a supportive journey knowing that they will never be alone

Dont Peak at High School review ´ 3 Fiona Scott-Norman ↠ 3 read review Dont Peak at High School For the one in four Australian kids affected by bullying the so called ‘best days of your life’ can feel like Guantanamo Bay for Teens In Don’t Peak At High School Australia’s most talented successful and popular stars reveal how being bullied shaped their lives Surprisingly entertaining and thoroughly inspiring this book will reassure teenagers and provide precious insight for parents and teachers These stor. Probably liked this better for not knowing any of the featured writers who are major stars in Australia they were just real folk to me These are pretty incredible stories of kids who overcame the odds and wound up massively professionally successful if not privately all pulled back together Which goes to reinforce that even though they re putting a decent roof over their heads this stuff sticks emotionally for a long long time Wonderful and inspiring advice for kids who don t fit into societies norms Some of the stories will really break your heart thoughThought this was hysterical because even in my own insignificant and very small world this is uite true so my Favorite uote A lot of people have really dull lives and I know because all the bitches found me on Facebook last year and tried to friend me Megan Washington
